Servo Systems

At AG Controls, we deliver Servo solutions that enhance positioning accuracy, cycle time and reliability across industries. Our expertise covers Siemens, Festo and SEW platforms, and we support both upgrades of legacy equipment and new installations.

What is a Servo System?

Servo systems are the backbone of precision motion control in modern manufacturing.

Applications of Servo Systems

AG Controls applies Servo Systems in a wide range of applications, including:

  • Positioning and pick-and-place systems in 2D and 3D
  • Torque measurement and control
  • Flying saw applications that require accurate, repeatable cuts

Example Application Case Study: 3D Gantry System

We recently delivered a dual 3D gantry system for a battery-handling application in Evansville, Indiana, USA.

The solution utilised a Siemens 1500T PLC in combination with S120 drives, and incorporated Siemens’ new Kinematics motion control. This approach was essential to meet the cycle-time requirements, with all axes interpolating together to provide a smooth, precise and repeatable performance.

Our approach to Servo Systems

We design and commission Servo Solutions tailored to each process. This includes:

  • Tuning for optimal performance
  • Ensuring reliability in sensitive sectors such as pharmaceuticals
  • Resolving the cycle time challenges that often limit output

Where systems are obsolete or no longer supported, we deliver upgrades that extend equipment life while improving performance.

Complex challenges and success stories

Servo system upgrades often deliver measurable performance gains. Examples include:

  • End-of-line clutch tester project increased testing power by 30%, overcoming the limits of the original equipment.
  • Improved cycle times and accuracy in flying saw applications have helped clients achieve both productivity and quality gains.

Industries we support

AG control provides Servo systems to a variety of manufacturing industries, including:

  • Automotive
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Wood processing
  • General industries where precision and repeatability are essential

Our role is to bring servo capability to life in production environments, balancing performance improvements with practical upgrades that protect customer investment.
